Nervous System Health

The Most Important System in Your Body… and the Most Ignored?

Most people think of a chiropractor as a back doctor. That’s the biggest misconception in healthcare…

A chiropractor is actually a nerve specialist, and the reason we look at your back is because that’s where the spinal cord and all of your nerves live.

Your nervous system is the master control system of the human body. It runs your heart, your lungs, your immune system, your digestion, your hormones, and every muscle and organ in between. Every signal your brain sends to your body and every signal that your body sends back travels through your spine.

When your spine is in proper alignment, those signals flow clearly. When vertebrae shift out of position, they create interference, placing pressure on nerves that quietly disrupts function throughout the body. This is what we call a subluxation, and it can exist for years before pain ever shows up.

Why Spinal Alignment Matters More Than You Think

Your spine is divided into three main sections, and each controls a different region of your body. The cervical spine (neck) sends nerves to your head, eyes, ears, throat, thyroid, and arms. The thoracic spine (mid-back) connects to your heart, lungs, and stomach. The lumbar spine (lower back) controls your hips, legs, bladder, and reproductive organs.

This is why a person with neck problems might also experience chronic headaches, ear infections, or sinus issues. It’s why someone with mid-back tension often struggles with acid reflux or recurring chest colds. The spine and the nervous system are inseparable.

How We Assess Nervous System Health at Circadian Chiropractic & sport

At our Sarasota practice, we test the spine in three ways using the AMD model: Alignment, Movement, and Damage. We check posture, measure spinal curves on digital X-ray, test range of motion at each segment, and perform nerve scans to detect where interference is present.

The X-ray is particularly powerful. It shows us whether you’ve lost normal spinal curves, where degenerative changes have begun, and how much drift has occurred over time. And most people have no idea it’s happening.

Corrective Care vs. Symptom Relief

There’s a fundamental difference between treating symptoms and correcting the underlying cause. At Circadian Chiropractic & Sport, we build a custom corrective plan based on your specific X-ray and nervous system findings. That plan includes precise spinal adjustments, corrective exercises, spinal orthotics where needed, and a timeline realistic to your degree of misalignment.

When you become a patient, you’ll understand what we’re working to correct, see measurable progress on re-examinations, and choose to protect that progress long-term.

Your nervous system affects everything. Taking care of it isn’t a luxury, but rather the foundation.
