Nervous System Chiropractic in Sarasota

A chiropractor is a nervous system specialist.

We work on the spine because that is where your spinal cord and nerves live.

Why we start with the nervous system

Your nervous system is the communication network between your brain and your body. Every muscle, joint, and organ system depends on those signals communicating clearly.

Most people think of a chiropractor as a back doctor. If your spinal cord is running through your arm, you’d know us as arm doctors. We look at the spine because it protects the spinal cord and the nerves branching off it.

Stress piles up: long hours, poor sleep, hard training, constant screens. Over time, the body can get stuck in fight-or-flight mode and stops recovering the way it should. The inability to rest and recover leads to dysfunction in the body, leading to issues that can include structural changes, chronic fatigue, and painful movement, among others.

does this Sound familiar?

  • Always wired and tired
  • Trouble winding down or sleeping well
  • Stress that settles in your neck and shoulders
  • Workouts that take longer and longer to recover from

How we find the cause: Alignment, movement, spinal Damage

Every new patient gets the same thorough starting point. We test your spine three ways:

Alignment

Posture checks, balance scales, and eyes-closed stability: testing to see how your body is carrying itself.

movement

Range of motion through your whole spine, plus how each segment moves on its own.

spinal Damage

Full-spine digital X-rays can show disc changes, arthritis, bone spurs, or old injuries that may have created a stress pattern.

Your exam includes a heart rate variability (HRV) test, which gives us a picture of how well your nervous system adapts to stress, along with nerve scans and balance testing.

From the side, your spine should have smooth, healthy curves. We measure yours and chart it against normal:

MildUp to 15% loss of curve

Moderate15–30% loss of curve

SevereMore than 30% loss of curve

Your PostureRay X-Ray Report shows you exactly where you stand, and we re-measure along the way so you can see progress, not just feel it.

How we help your nervous system

Depending on what your exam shows, your plan may include:

Corrective Chiropractic Care

Adjustments aimed at restoring alignment and motion where your nerves leave the spine, with at-home spinal hygiene exercises to hold the change.

NeuFit (nervous system + fitness)

What to expect

Feeling better and being fully better aren’t the same thing. Most people notice changes early on. Truly stabilizing a spine that’s been out of alignment for years can take up to 6-12 months of consistency… That doesn’t mean 6-12 months to feel better, it just means that your body needs time to hold the correction so it doesn’t slide back.

Will it hurt? Changing a spine that hasn’t moved in years can feel like a workout at the beginning. If you feel it, it’s usually in the first couple of weeks, and we adapt our technique to what works best for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is HRV?

Heart rate variability is the small variation in time between heartbeats. Higher variability is generally associated with better adaptability to stress and better recovery. We re-test it along the way.

Can chiropractic help with stress or sleep?

We don’t claim to fix a sleep or anxiety disorder. What we can do is measure how your nervous system is handling stress and address the structural side of it. Many patients tell us they sleep and feel better as their care progresses.

What are nerve scans?

Quick, painless scans that help show where your nervous system is under stress. They are one part of your exam, along with posture, balance, range of motion, and X-rays when needed.

Is this only for people in pain?

No. Plenty of our patients come in feeling fine and want to know how their nervous system is actually doing.

Where are you located?

We’re at 5250 17th St, Unit 101, on the corner of 17th & Honore, centrally located between University and Fruitville and about 5 minutes from I-75 and UTC. We see patients from Sarasota, Bradenton, and Lakewood Ranch.

Ready to find out what’s going on?

Your new patient exam includes a full consultation, nerve scans, digital X-rays, and a PostureRay report, so you leave knowing exactly where you stand.
