Measure it, understand it, and help your spine move and function as well as it can.

Maybe a school screening flagged it. Maybe you noticed one shoulder sits higher in photos. Scoliosis is one of the most common reasons Sarasota, Bradenton, and Lakewood Ranch parents bring their kids to see us.

What may be behind scoliosis

Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine. Most scoliosis in kids and teens has no known cause, and it often shows up during growth spurts.

In adults, a curve may come from childhood scoliosis or from wear on the discs and joints over time. Either way, the curve changes how load is shared across the spine, which may contribute to muscle tension, uneven posture, and back pain.

  • One shoulder blade sticks out more than the other
  • Pants or skirts always hang crooked
  • You were told you had mild scoliosis years ago and now your back aches
  • You want to know if your curve is changing

Strength & Mobility Work

Home exercises plus re-checks, and coordination with your pediatrician or an orthopedist when the curve size calls for it.

When to get medical care first: A curve that is progressing quickly in a growing child, back pain with fever or weight loss, or any new numbness, weakness, or bladder or bowel changes needs medical evaluation. Larger curves may need bracing or a surgical consult, and we will help you get to the right specialist.

Frequently asked questions

Can chiropractic fix scoliosis?

We don’t promise to straighten a curve. We measure it, monitor it, and help your spine move and feel better. Many patients see improvements in posture, comfort, and function.

At what age should a child get checked?

Any time a parent or school screening notices unevenness, and especially before and during growth spurts, around ages 10 to 15.

Do I need X-rays?

X-rays are the most accurate way to measure a curve. We take them in-house if your exam shows they are needed.
